Split-Screen Personal Portfolio
For Music Management & A&R Roles in the 2026 Entertainment Industry
In the current landscape of the music industry, a traditional PDF resume is no longer enough to stand out for high-level A&R and strategy roles. Our client, Jack Gao, recognized that to stay competitive, he needed a digital portfolio to supplement his credentials.
The goal was to provide a visual and interactive home for his project work—ranging from catalog management to creative direction—that a standard document simply couldn't capture.
The Problem
While a traditional resume is essential, it often fails to capture the personality and multi-dimensional nature of a modern strategist. Jack wanted a more interactive way to showcase his experience, adding something that felt more personal and representative of his taste than a standard black-and-white PDF document.
We also had to consider the practical reality of the industry. When a hiring manager reviews a candidate's profile, they often lack the time to dig through various attachments or long-form research papers to find "proof of execution".
Moreover, since the client is in a strategic role in the music industry rather than a creative or design-centric one, the challenge was to create something that felt high-end and personal without becoming "overly fancy" or distracting from his professional authority.

The Solution
To balance professionalism with creative personality while increasing the density of key information, we chose a split-screen architectural landing page layout. This structure ensures that hiring managers never lose sight of who the candidate is while they are exploring the abstracts of the case studies.
The left pane is a fixed model with a scrollable section wrapping inside to act as a persistent professional summary. By anchoring his core credentials and academic background, we provide a permanent context for his strategic authority. This ensures his professional identity remains at the forefront of the user experience, staying visible as a constant reference point regardless of how far the user scrolls.
The right side of the layout is dedicated to his related work output, utilizing a vertical scroll that allows visitors to move seamlessly through his project summaries. This modular "action stream" provides clear thumbnails and abstracts for his works. This approach prevents the friction of navigating to new pages or opening external attachments prematurely, ensuring the experience remains fast, focused, and representative of his professional taste.
